After signing up for the gym last month, (it’s been about 3 years since I’ve been a gym bunny), infinite wisdom tells me I need to go ahead and try all the classes at least once so I can decide which ones suit me best.
So I tried Swing Yoga. I walk into what looks like someone’ s secret S&M back room and immediately want to do a u-turn. But, since I did have experience with other types of Yoga in the past, I figured — I got this. No worries.
Well, within minutes into the class I find myself attempting to do things with my body that seem like what would happen to you in a torture chamber. Thankfully, the very talented and professional Indian Instructor and his assistant walked around to help you in and out of the positions. I felt like a low-hanging fruit. I think the last time I was in a position like this was 44 years ago in my mother’s womb, but I told myself I’m in this for the long haul – and stayed until the end of class.
Towards the end, I felt like I can no longer move my limbs on my own. I wanted to lay sedentary until the Paramedics arrived. I was sure that they secretly called one for me. I felt paralyzed and wanted the relaxation part to last another 30 minutes. I swore I’d never walk again. It was that painful! After the torture session was over, I wished mean things to the Instructors. Just kidding! They were quite awesome and I think I will give it a whirl again!
